How many times do you find yourself juggling surgical trays & instruments, whilst having to fast track equipment for following cases.
When do your operating room lists get finalised, the day before a scheduled list, with limited insight from management as to the available resources, ie equipment?
I find this happens a lot with the added stress of a casual and or inexperienced staff member.
Lucky experience shines through and we are able to, think, juggle & prioritise surgical cases ahead of time. 😉
Preparation, anticipation, experience & teamwork are key in limiting intra-operative inefficiencies. Let’s not forget the sterilisation department… who we couldn’t live without!
